Mission Arts & Crafts Style Frame w/ Motawi Tile
This frame is handmade by me, a Wisconsin Cheesehead. It is made from
locally cut and milled Quartersawn White Oak.  It is designed to hold any of
the 6x6 tiles from Motawi.

The frame is built with the traditional joinery found in Mission/Arts & Crafts
furniture. The top and bottom rails are joined to the side stiles with pegged
mortise-and-tenon joints. In the pegged mortise-and-tenon joint, the peg
passes through both the mortise and the tenon, preventing the tenon from
backing out of its mortise. This method of joinery insures that this frame will
stay as sturdy a hundred years from now as it is today.
The finish consists of a custom stain blend, two coats of amber
shellac-hand rubbed to a matte finish, followed by a coat of hand rubbed
Carnauba Paste Wax, buffed out to a beautiful lustre. This process adds to
the antique look and visual appeal of the Quartersawn Oak frame.

Each Motawi tile is skillfully crafted by a staff dedicated to beauty and
quality.   Every tile is pressed from an original plaster mold and glazed by
hand in the Motawi Studio. This handmade process gives each Motawi tile
its own unique character  while still being an accurate reproduction of the
original relief tile design.  The tile featured is the 6x6  'Berry Tree' in the Pale
Green Colorway. We have several other tile designs available.
The overall dimensions of the frame are 9-1/2" wide by 12" long
